ELGIN-MIDDLESEX-LONDON —The Ontario government is providing over $8.5M to help the City of London and City of St. Thomas, which are also service managers for the counties of Elgin and Middlesex, deliver critical services, create longer-term housing solutions, and keep vulnerable people safe.

“The ongoing effects of COVID-19 create significant pressures for both members of the community experiencing difficulty accessing safe housing and for municipalities in responding to those needs,” said Jeff Yurek, MPP. “This additional support will ensure that resources are available for our neighbours who need it.”

Local allocations are as follows:

  • City of London- $6,721,700
  • City of St. Thomas- $1,841,300

Today’s announcement is part of the province’s additional $307 million investment to help municipalities and Indigenous community partners respond to COVID-19. This investment builds upon the $765 million dollars of Social Services Relief Funding (SSRF) announced in 2020- 2021, for a total support to communities of over $1 billion.
