Ontario College of Trades Annual Membership Fees UpdatePublished on May 13, 2019
ELGIN-MIDDLESEX-LONDON-- Jeff Yurek, MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London, announced recent updates to annual membership fees for the Ontario College of Trades. “I am proud that tradespeople in Elgin-Middlesex-London and across the province have been largely relieved of the burdensome fee requirements for the College,” said MPP Yurek. “We are now one step closer to winding down a program that failed to meet the needs of its members, and I look forward to further updates from our government in the coming months.”
Upon request of the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities annual membership fees have been reduced or eliminated to be:
- $0 for Apprentices Class members
- $0 for Journeyperson Candidates Class members
- $0 for Tradespersons Class members
- $60 for Journeypersons Class members
The College has placed a temporary pause on membership fee collection in order to make the necessary technical changes to reflect the new fee structure.
A new model for trades and apprenticeship is being developed for phase-in as the College of Trades’ regulation of skilled trades ends. Over this period, the government and the College are committed to ensuring the delivery of frontline services through an orderly transition period.
