Small Business Supports

The province of Ontario has created a suite of supports to assist small businesses in weathering the storm of COVID-19. Programs include PPE cost reimbursement, property tax and energy cost rebates, and the NEW Small Business Support Grant, which provides either $10,000 or $20,000 in funding to eligible businesses. · NOTE- The programs each have different eligibility requirements, but the NEW grant funding DOES apply to sole proprietor and new businesses. Please apply!

· Do you operate in Port Stanley and had issues with the previous support application not accepting your address? Jeff has spoken with the Associate Minister for Small Business and that has been remedied. Be sure to apply now!

NEW: The Ontario government is expanding the number of small businesses that can apply for the Main Street Relief Grant to help offset the costs of purchasing personal protective equipment (PPE) to cautiously and gradually reopen in parts of the province. Small businesses with 2 to 19 employees in all eligible sectors - expanded from 2-9 employees - including those in the arts, entertainment, and recreation sector, can now apply for up to $1,000 in financial support. The expansion is being made as more parts of the province enter the strengthened COVID-19 Response Framework, which allows for the gradual and safe reopening of in-store shopping at non-essential retail stores.

  • As of Thursday, February 18th, the province has approved over 54,000 applications with more than $770 million in payments going to businesses in communities across Ontario.
